The Hell Spawn melted away into a pile of ash.
Vincent crumpled to the ground with Bryna still locked in his arms. “You okay, sunshine?”
“Y-yes,” she said on a pant. “It’s really gone?”
He captured her face in his hands and looked into her soul-stealing green eyes. “It’s gone. We did it. We survived my twenty-eight birthday.”
She lifted her hand and traced the length of his scar with a delicate finger. “We did.”
Felix would be here soon with new orders and probably news of a new Hell Spawn in charge of bringing about the apocalypse, but Vincent didn’t care. He was alive, and he had his Bryna. And nothing, not even death itself, was going to take him away from her again.
