Blackmailed For Vengeance(26)

By 5 that evening he had become annoyed that she was still not home, snapping at Maria as she tried to feed him dinner. As he had moved upstairs to prepare for that evening, the door had finally opened and Lee had walked in. She had grinned at Maria, who had thrown her a warning look, as he had moved back down the stairs.

“Where the hell have you been” he asked stiffly

Lee had looked at him in surprise, as Maria had fled back to the relative sanctuary of the kitchen

“Doing what you want me to do” she said “spending your money”

With that she had held up some bags and a dress bag. For the ball she had had to go to the boutique to ensure that the dress fitted perfectly. This had taken several hours, as they had to readjust some of the dress, to precisely fit her. As she finally had Lee in the shop, the owner, Claire, had taken the opportunity to get her to try on other outfits at the same time, and while Lee had refused to buy any more at that time, Claire had furiously written down details on a note pad, sure that the time would come when each would be required.

Yanis, had turned abruptly moving back up the stairs

“You have one hour, don’t be late”

Lee had rushed up the stairs after he had disappeared, before jumping into a shower, careful not to disturb her hair which had been specially placed on her head, with small curls adding a softness to frame her lovely face.

When she had completed her make-up, Lee had carefully stepped into the long ball gown made of a soft taffeta material, of a jade colour, which clung to her body past her hips before flaring out so elegantly. She had pulled on the matching shoes and held onto the matching bag before with a last look in the mirror she had moved out of her room to meet Yanis.

As she descended the stairs she had caught sight of him standing in the hall. Lee had watched as he had turned around to look at her, seeing how handsome he looked in his tuxedo the darkness of the material highlighting his dark eyes and hair. He had stopped in his tracks as she had come into sight before looking with openly admiring eyes

“Well, if you are going to look like that at the end, then you can be out all day everyday” he said, his voice soft and sensual to her ears

Lee had flushed slightly at his words as she reached the bottom step.

“Thank you” she said shyly suddenly nervous, as he had led her out to the waiting car

The party was a grand affair, with anybody who was anybody being present. Lee had

felt like an outcast as Yanis had led her from one group of people to another. She had smiled and accepted all of the congratulations wishes which came their way.

In the main she had let Yanis do most of the talking, although she had found herself unable to hold her tongue when they had joined one group. Lee had found herself next to an older rather arrogant looking woman, who seemed to very much look down her nose at everybody else, Lee had met her type before, and didn’t enjoy being in her company. She was loudly complaining about how children from council estates were all hoodlums, and out to cause trouble, when Lee had stiffly interrupted her

“Have you ever been to a council estate?”

The woman had looked at Lee with a contemptuous look before replying

“Absolutely not” with a tone which made Lees heckles rise

“Then how do you know” she asked holding back the anger she felt

The woman had glared back at Lee

“If you read the papers young lady “she began before Lee had cut across her

“Perhaps you shouldn’t believe everything you read in the papers. I grew up in a council estate, and the only reason that kids hung around corners was that there was nothing else to do. These kids don’t have money to go to clubs, they rely on what free clubs and activities are available. If they hang around then it is only because they have no where else to go to”

She had looked at the others in the group

“There are a lot of really good projects out there to help these kids, projects that are hardly able to survive because of lack of funding…. So perhaps it might be better to help these people rather than listen to what the papers say” she said unaware of just how magnificent she looked as she stood facing the surprised woman.

Yanis had watched her in surprise, stunned at the passion she spoke with and the honesty with which she had readily admitted to her background, not showing any of the usual pretensions of his dates. As she turned away, suddenly embarrassed by what she had said he had taken her hand, giving it an encouraging squeeze. Lee had looked up into his eyes, hers showing the surprise of his actions.

The rest of the night had gone in a blur, as she had danced with Yanis enjoying the feel of him leading her around the dance floor. As he held her close, she could feel his hands on her sending pleasant sensations through her whole body. She had lent against him allowing herself to be lost in the heady scent of him, as he had whispered to her about the different people they had met, telling her who each person was along with what they did for a living. Unsurprisingly most were like him multi millionaires, many inherited from families.
