Billionaires and Baby Rattles(10)

He wondered how Mya was taking it all in. Shit, they may be camped outside her house. Reporters could find an address in record time. Ethan wanted to eat his breakfast in a hurry and get to her place before work. He’d hire a moving company on the way to pack up her stuff and get her behind the gates of the Tremaine mansion.

In his musing, he’d forgotten to answer the phone, and this time when it vibrated, it seemed almost angry. He looked at the display, and a picture of his brother came up. Ethan answered, holding the phone between his ear and shoulder while he turned his bacon.

“What’s the word?” It was how he had greeted his brother since they were teens.

“You tell me. I had to hear about your wedding and your baby mama from a reporter outside the office this morning?” Easton demanded to know. “Mya, your secretary?”

“Yes, Mya, my personal assistant and now fiancée,” Ethan snapped. “You make it sound like she’s a hobo on the street.”

“Don’t get defensive. I only meant I never knew you and her were a thing,” Easton answered.

“I don’t go around sharing my personal life. Grandfather’s will reading made it quite difficult for us to handle this the way we wanted to.” Ethan hesitated. “I’ll tell you about it in person. I don’t want to discuss it on the phone.”

“Okay, understood, but get this. Grandfather left me a letter to go see this woman. Apparently she is supposed to help me find a wife,” Easton said.

Ethan laughed incredulously. “Did he lose his mind those last few months? Are you going to let her do it?”

“Hey, how can it hurt? Besides, she is kinda hot—but man, she can be tough.” Easton sighed. “Thanks, Grandfather.”

“I know what you mean,” Ethan answered. “Anyway, I need to go. I have a feeling that the newshounds are on Mya’s doorstep, so I’m going to get her moved behind the mansion walls.”

“Good idea,” Easton said. “Hey, so what are we going to do with the Monolith?”

“Renovate and live here is my suggestion. It’s big enough for all of us. I can start the process, and we make decisions together until you figure out if you want to live here or not.” Ethan took a bite of his eggs and sipped his coffee.

“Works for me. Talk to you later today. I have to go meet my taskmaster matchmaker for lunch,” Easton said.#p#分页标题#e#

Ethan laughed. “Good luck.”

He pressed the button to disconnect and quickly ate his breakfast. After a quick shower, and while unlocking his car, he was on the phone with a moving company he’d used before. He made arrangements for Mya’s apartment to be packed up that same day. It would give him time to go into the office quickly and make sure there weren’t any meetings scheduled. Mya had been his right hand, and with her gone, he had no clue what was in his schedule, and he didn’t want to ask her. She wasn’t his assistant any longer. She was going to be his wife. Then he’d go to her house and bring her to the mansion while her things were taken care of. Don’t forget Robin. He gritted his teeth when his subconscious reminded him of her flamboyant friend. He was rethinking the invitation. How was he supposed to get close to Mya with him around? He couldn’t take it back. He could see them both being pissed at him. Besides, it was a massive house, with more than enough stuff to occupy Robin. The focus would be on Mya and making sure she was happy.

“Are they still out there?” Mya asked Robin, who was peeking through the closed blinds.

She’d woken up as usual and went into the kitchen to make breakfast. She opened the blinds over her sink, and the flash of a camera almost blinded her. Her screech made Robin run in with only his boxers on, and when they both looked out, there were reporters everywhere, even some going through her trash. Her sixty-five-year-old neighbor who owned Brutus the dog chased two away with a broom, but they still kept coming. Ethan’s plan had gone too well because now she was being overrun. Her stress level didn’t help her morning sickness. She couldn’t keep anything down, not even mint tea. Mya was now laid out on the couch, and the room was lit by the lamps because they dared not open the blinds.

Robin peeked through the blinds, and a flash had him stumbling back. “Um, yeah, they’re still there.”

“Great, just great. I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow. How the hell do I get out with those vultures loose?” she muttered and rubbed her temples. “I bet Ethan is all safe and sound at home while they are lining the sidewalk here.”
