“Okay young’un, we need to ask him a few questions remember?” Damn I thought I was fucked but this motherfucker was blotso, it was like looking at someone else entirely. His eyes weren’t exactly dead but close to it, and the weirdest fucking thing, he wasn’t even breathing hard.
I dragged the fat fuck away from him and out of the way since the others were running some kind of a raid and there were people running every which way. I’d forgotten that Creed was looking for his own birds too, so focused was I on my own shit.
“Hey asshole, you know who I am?” His eyes were almost swollen shut from Ty’s fists and there was blood dripping from his lip. I waited until he focused in on me some.
“No, who are you?”
“I’m the fucker that’s gonna end you if you don’t tell me what the fuck the Porters want with my kid.” He seemed dazed for a minute before it came back to him, then the fucker did the dumbest thing, he fucking smiled.
“I don’t have to tell you shit, you think you can stop this?” The next thing out of him was a scream when I capped him in his knee. I’m sure the law enforcement guy was around here somewhere but I wasn’t in the mood to give a fuck.
“The next one’s going straight to the heart, start talking. Who the fuck was the buyer?” Instead of looking at me he held his knee and sneered at Tyler.
“This is all your fault, you and your meddling friends, and that old man. But I got you good didn’t I? How’s the little bitch you were sniffing after, did she tell you how good I was to her?”
Ty kicked him the nuts and lost his shit. I knew these soldier types were psycho, all that suave reserve. My ass. I let him work the asshole over until he was tired. In all that time he never said a word, not even when blood sprayed across his chest from the asshole’s broken face. That’s some scary shit.
Elsewhere the party was going on and I still didn’t know any more than I did when I came up the damn mountain. “Hey, you tell me what I want to know and I’ll keep this one away from you.” I pulled Ty off his dumb ass again.
He was a fucking mess, but everybody wants to live right. “I talk to you I’m as good as dead. You won’t stop them; it’s too big, even for you and your daddy’s money Lyon. Way I heard it your wife was a hot little fu…” I shot the fuck in the head.
“Whoa, Lyon, what the fuck, we were supposed to take him in.”
“That was your deal soldier boy, I don’t need him to tell me what I already know anyway.” Like fuck I was gonna let that piece a shit live after he said that shit about my wife, he’s out his fucking mind.
Looks like I have to head to fucking Arizona again to finish what the fuck I started all those years ago. When will this shit ever end?
First the psycho bitch had come after Kat years ago and now the family was after my kid. Why the fuck don’t they just come at me head on?
I pulled my phone when I was a good ways away. “Hey snitch girl what’re you doing?” I missed the fuck out of my wife and kids. From the moment they showed me my little girl in that shit I’d known the outcome.
As far as I was concerned this was a simple case of one down a whole fucking family to go. I’ll end every last one of the motherfuckers before this shit was over. Fuckers kept regurgitating or some fuck.
“Colt, oh thank heavens, WHERE THE HELL DID YOU GO…?” I took the phone away from my ear when she started her screaming shit; she does that when she’s scared. When it sounded like she was winding down I put it back to my ear.
“Babe, I don’t think I’m gonna make it home tonight.” She went quiet on me and swear to fuck she was crying. “But Colt, we never sleep apart.” That fucking voice still has the power to make my ass stupid.
I looked at my watch in the moonlight just as Jared and the boys came up on me. I hadn’t even seen them since the shit started. They weren’t looking too pleased either, fucking old women. It was just after one. “Fine, I’m coming home to you. How’re my kids?”
“The kids are fine, your dad had them all camping out in the basement telling them ghost stories, they’re all sleeping down there tonight.”
“Fuck Kat you left the pothead in the basement with the kids? You know that’s his new hideout, it’s where he goes to get high.” It felt good as fuck to talk to her like this. The danger wasn’t past, not by a long shot, but I was gonna see to that shit soon and I’d got a good fucking start. She laughed on the other end making me feel lighter still.
“Let me take care of some stuff and I’ll be home in a few. Kiss the baby for me and get some sleep, I’ll wake you up when I get in.” I hung up and waited for the others. This had become about more than just me and mine.
These guys had come all this way and done me a solid, the least I could do is return the favor. As long as no one tried standing in the way when the time comes.
Creed
Shit was chaotic, people were scattering like flies but I knew what my prey looked like. I heard a shot off to the side earlier and figured either Ty or Lyon had broken ranks. We’ll have to deal with the cleanup later, or maybe not. These boys were loaded for bear. I’m thinking we were all on the same page here.
Right now my only focus was on Sal and Dee. Lo’s team and Law’s crew were lining up the hate mongers like war prisoners as I walked through looking, but they were nowhere to be found.
I was starting to freak the fuck out thinking they’d escaped when I heard a whistle a little off to the side. “Over here.” It sounded like the Travis guy and he was calling from a little distance away, away from the fray. I jogged my way over there and found gold.
“These two were hiding out in the outhouse.” He had them by the necks and I’m guessing Sal was still weak from losing his balls because he looked kinda pale in the moonlight and wasn’t putting up much of a fight, unless Travis had worked him a little already.
For some reason now that I was faced with them I was more pissed at her than him. She’s the one I’d trusted with her, the one whose betrayal cut deep. Sal’s fate was already set after what my girl had told me, but this one, she needed special attention.
“What the fuck is she doing in that book?” No sense in beating around the bush. From the look of surprise on her face and the noise he made, they weren’t expecting that, which meant they had no idea we’d gotten hold of the book.
“I don’t…” This time I didn’t take it easy on her. Grabbing her hair, I pulled her head back roughly, twisting her neck. “Don’t fuck with me, how did she end up in there? How did he get to you?”
“He said he’d kill us if we didn’t.”
“He who?” I know it wasn’t Khalil or The Fox as we’d been calling him for years, because that fuck has never touched American soil. And since they’ve been shacked up here with the Stockton dude for the past few days I was pretty sure they knew his name by now.
“I don’t know, we never met…Ouch I’m telling the truth I swear, please don’t kill us, we had no choice.” Okay maybe I was wrong.
“When did it start I wanna know everything and Dee, if I don’t like what you got to say I will put a bullet in you. Now make it quick.”
She told of being contacted by phone and then receiving pictures of her doing everyday stuff, classic scare tactic maneuver. Then someone had dropped instructions in the mailbox as to what she was supposed to do.
“When did it start?”
“She was sixteen when we were first contacted.”
“And?”
“And nothing, every couple of months we’d get a call, a kind of reminder.”
“When was the last one? What was supposed to be the end result? And don’t tell me you don’t know.”
“I didn’t I swear, not at first anyway, but then we sorta caught on. It was the way he would talk about her ya know, how she was gonna fetch a good price.”
“This guy, what did he sound like?”
“Well the first one, he was American he wasn’t as scary as the other one.”
“The other one, tell me about him.” My guts tied itself in knots because I was pretty sure what she going to say next.
“He only started calling coming onto the end. He had a very thick accent, middle-eastern I think, he was not a nice man.” She took a deep breath and looked around for an escape.
“What else, why did he start calling instead of the other one and was there ever any talk of collecting?” That was my only real interest. Was I going to have to look over my shoulder now for some fuck coming to collect?
“It was after you stopped calling or coming by.” She said that shit almost accusingly and I almost popped her right then and there. “What the fuck are you talking about?” I still hadn’t eased up on her hair so I know her neck had to be hurting like fuck.
“After the prom, you just stopped coming by and you weren’t calling as much. They had the phone tapped and someone was watching the house because they knew everything.
After you stopped coming around they seemed to lose interest. The calls tapered off and then stopped altogether for a while.”
