Big Men of the House(75)

“Okay Jeremiah, I'm ready let's go.”

“Wow! You look amazing!”

“I don't want to hear it Jeremiah, let's just get this over with.” Jeremiah's expression turned from happy to sour at my remark.

We took a cab to a Chinese restaurant that was from the strip. Two big bodyguards escorted us through the restaurant to the back. The room was small and filled with smoke. There was a poker table in the middle of the room and sitting down was Micah, wearing a black suit and tie. He was younger than my mom and had just the perfect amount of stubble that made him look like a movie star.

When he saw me he immediately stood up. “Thanks for coming, Claire” he said while kissing my hand. “Please sit down, both of you.” We both took a seat at the table, and I caught Micah checking out my breasts.

“You don't seriously want Jeremiah to pay us back?” I asked Micah.

“Micah turned towards Jeremiah. “I assumed you had told her about our arrangement?”

Jeremiah started to sweat. “Actually I hadn't gotten the chance yet.”

“Well do you want me to tell her or do you?”Micah asked. My head was spinning and I wanted to know what the hell was going on.

Micah waited a minute for Jeremiah to say something but he never did. “Well since your boyfriend seems too nervous to tell you, I'll tell you about our arrangement.” I looked over a Jeremiah and he couldn't look me in the eyes. I turned back to Micah and he explained, “We are going to play one hand of Texas Hold Em'. If I win I get you for the night.”

Once the words left his lips, I stood up and was ready to walk out of there. “You have to be joking Where's my mom?”

“Wait babe! Don't go yet. Hear him out,” he pleaded with me. I sat back at the table and waited for Micah to continue.

“Your mother is at the hotel asleep. I told her I'll be out all night at a business meeting. Now that's cleared up. Let me explain. If Jeremiah wins, you'll get back the $10,000 he lost last night plus $40,000.” I almost fainted when I heard the number.

“So let me get this straight. If Jeremiah wins you give us $50,000, and if you win I have to spend the night with you.”

“That is the deal,” Micah said with a serious face.

“Baby I know I can do this! You just need to trust me.”

I'm not sure if it was the greed that made me say yes or how much I was attracted to Micah. Ever since my mother married him, I always had a thing for him. But it was wrong.

Forbidden.

Either way things wouldn't be the same after tonight. “Okay Micah, I accept the deal.”

“Wonderful!” Micah turned towards one of the bodyguards who had a deck of cards. He sat down at the table and then dealt Jeremiah and Micah two cards each. He put three cards face up on the table and both of the players flipped over their own cards. Jeremiah just had a couple of nothing but Micah had two aces. I didn't know a lot about card games but I knew that aces were really good. I could also tell by the way Jeremiah was sweating that this wasn't going to be good. The dealer flipped over two more cards and the last one was another ace. Micah had three aces and Jeremiah had absolutely nothing. Jeremiah lost and he buried himself in his hands.

“You bastard!” I wanted to spit in Jeremiah's face for even contemplating the idea in the first place.

“I'm so sorry, honey.”

“Well it looks like I won the game and a deal is a deal. Claire, if you would kindly follow my bodyguard to the limo.” I stood up and didn't even look at Jeremiah as I left the room.

I followed the bodyguard outside the restaurant and to the limo. It wasn't the normal stretch limo but one of those Hummer types. I stepped inside and waited for Micah to come. I was so furious with Jeremiah that I felt like cheating on him was the best way of revenge. But on the other hand I didn't want to do it. Too bad I didn't really have a choice. Micah was incredibly rich and I'm sure he could make my life hell if I refused him.

After a few minutes, Micah entered the limo. “Well my dear, are you ready to go?”

“As ready as I'll ever be.” I wasn't happy to be in this situation, but there was something about Micah. He was so handsome and confident. I felt like I would do anything he asked of me. I know exactly why my mom fell for him.

The driver took us directly to The Venetian hotel which was only five minutes away from the Chinese restaurant. I had always wanted to stay there because I heard the hotel was very extravagant. We were both escorted into the hotel by his bodyguards and into the elevator. There was a button separate from the rest of the numbers. One said Penthouse and it had a keyhole next to it. One of the bodyguards pushed the button and turned a key at the same time. The elevator took us up 30 floors and it was hard to endure the uncomfortable silence. When we got close to the top, Micah said to both the bodyguards, “Thank you both but I won't be needing you for the rest of the night.”
