“I’ve got a room in the hotel.”
“What’re we waiting for?”
“Shouldn’t we stay until they cut the cake?”
“I’m sure we can find something to eat besides cake.” He winked at her, and she blushed. It had been a long time since he’d made a woman blush. This is gonna be more fun than I thought.
Discreetly, they walked out of the ballroom and entered the elevator. When the shiny brass doors closed, Axe crushed his lips against hers, pulling her close while he squeezed her ass. Stiff at first, she eventually relaxed and opened her mouth, his tongue diving in. During the entire elevator ride to the twentieth floor, they groped, panted, and kissed until the bell dinged and the doors opened.
“I’m in room 2032,” she said between breaths as Axe continued to kiss her.
“Lead the way, sweetheart.”
Chapter Two
As Baylee inserted her key card, her thoughts spun out of control. What the hell am I doing? I don’t even know this guy, and I’m taking him up to my room for a one-night stand. Am I nuts?
The door swung open, and a nicely decorated room greeted them. The king-sized bed looked like a beacon guiding the lovers to it. Baylee knew she was beyond insane; in all her years, she’d never done anything like a one-night stand before. Yes, she’d been going through a dry spell because her career was so demanding, but the last thing she wanted was the complication of a relationship. Before she came to the wedding, she’d told herself that if she found someone interesting she’d have a no-strings attached liaison for one night. But telling herself and doing it were two different things. She didn’t think she’d go through with it.
Baylee had noticed him in the church, out of the corner of her eye as his stare bored into her. His chiseled good looks stood out among the wedding guests. The way he looked at her made her stomach flutter. Later, at the reception when she’d walked up to the table, Baylee noticed it was him: the sexy, dark-haired man whose stormy eyes locked with hers, and she took it as a sign that her one-night stand was meant to be. Even then she didn’t think she’d have the nerve to actually go through with it. Yet lo and behold, she was now in her room with this gorgeous stranger.
From where she’d sat, she could see how ripped his chest and arms were, and she had to force herself to turn away for fear she’d start to drool. His mop of hair fell down over his forehead, and she wanted to lean over and brush away the strands. When he’d sneak glances at her, a slow throb pulsed through her center, and she’d pictured his hands and mouth stroking every inch of her body.
Then he took her in his arms on the dance floor, and she’d melted. But in her hotel room, standing before him and his rock-hard bulge, she began to have second thoughts. Baylee, you need this. Let this hot guy fuck your brains out, get rid of all your pent-up tension, and go on with your life. An opportunity like this doesn’t come around every day.
“Whatcha thinkin’ about, sweetheart? Not changing your mind, are you?” Axe stood back, his dark gaze roaming up and down her body. “I bet you’re beautiful under all your clothes.”
Baylee twirled a strand of her hair around her finger, staring back at Axe. He was gorgeous and at six-foot-three, he was just the perfect size for her five-nine height. Even with her high heels, he still stood taller than she. Licking her lips, she took in his strong jaw and broad nose, which looked like it may have been broken more than one time. His full lips exposed straight, white teeth when he smiled. His face had a hard edge to it, and she was sure he’d show her a night to remember. The guy was clearly dark, dangerous, and rough around the edges. A perfect person to give her the release she craved without the fear of falling for him. She’d bet he was a dirty talker, and she hoped he was, because she loved a filthy-mouthed man. It was one of her secrets she didn’t share with anyone—not even the men she’d been involved with.
As she stood there, staring at him, he walked over and yanked her against him, his mouth covering hers. He kissed her with such ferocity it took her breath away. Her stomach was doing a samba, and she chided herself for reacting so foolishly to a stranger she’d never see again.
“You taste delicious. I have a lot of plans for your luscious lips.” Axe’s breath on her made her shiver, and she clasped her arms around his neck tightly, throwing her head back further so he could bury his tongue deeper in her mouth. “Fuck yeah, baby. I like that,” he said huskily when he broke away from her.
“I like the way you kiss me.”
“Oh, I’ll be doing a lot more than that. By the time the sun rises, you’re gonna be hoarse from all the screaming I’m gonna make you do.” Axe led her over to the bed then whirled her around and unfastened her cocktail dress.
