An Outlaw Wedding(14)
For several moments neither of them did anything but try to catch their breath. The seriousness and reality of what they had just done slammed into her instantly, but she was so high from climaxing that she didn’t care how she had lost her virginity. It didn’t matter anyway since Nico had been the one to take it. When he pulled out of her and helped her to stand, the air shifted. The feeling of warm wetness sliding from between her thigh cemented the fact of this moment. He tucked himself back in his pants, and she pushed her skirt down. She spied her panties in tatters beside her feet and couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
“You destroyed them, Nico.” She reached down and picked them up, and balled them in her fist, but before she could shove them in her front pocket Nico grabbed them from her and put them in his pocket. She looked up at him, a little surprised, but he wasn’t showing any amusement. Before she could ask him what was wrong he cupped her face with his hands and leaned in. She thought maybe he’d place his lips right on hers, but instead he kissed her forehead, and then rested his on hers. “You plan on keeping my panties, Nico?” she teased.
He didn’t respond, but when she looked at him she could see him smiling. “Most definitely, baby.” He kissed her on the lips. “I love you so much, Alexis, so much that it makes my whole body hurt sometimes.” He pulled back and looked into her eyes. “One day you’re going to be my wife, baby, and then you’ll truly be only mine.”
Some people might think a declaration like that was foolish and false. They were so young, but they were also bear shifters, at least he was in the literal sense, and they were both a part of The Grizzly MC family. A Grizzly didn’t know how to do things half assed, and they didn’t make idle promises like the one Nico had just said.
“I know, and I’m looking forward to that day.” And she was, with everything in her heart.
Chapter Four
A Grizzly Thanksgiving
Alexis sat in the passenger’s seat of her father’s SUV and glanced at him. He had insisted on coming and picking her up, and although that wasn’t unusual, it would have been quicker and easier if she had just driven herself. But she liked this quality time with him, even if he was more of the strong, silent type. They were about twenty minutes out from her mom and dad’s house, and although she was feeling kind of itchy in a good way about seeing everyone, she had this excitement building inside of her to see Nico. It felt like months since she had seen him, instead of the couple of weeks it had actually been.
“School’s good?” her dad asked, and she saw him look at her through the corner of her eyes.
“It is.” She smiled at him. “Finished exams, and looking forward to next semester since I’m taking some classes that are actually interesting.”
He chuckled. “Glad you’re enjoying yourself. You scared of almost being done and working with us?”
She shrugged. “Not really. I’m ready for it to be over with. I’ve been watching Stinger and Mom doing the books, just so I can see how they do it.”
“I’m glad you decided to stay with the club.” He reached out and placed his much bigger hand over hers. He held her hand the whole way back to the house, and when they pulled into her childhood home’s driveway she smiled. Odin was already at the house, and his truck sat in the driveway closest to the door. She also saw her mom through the kitchen window, and by the way she was moving her mouth and dancing, Alexis knew she was listening to music. Yeah, her mother used to be a stripper. Not the best profession, but Darra wasn’t ashamed of what she had done. She had told Alexis as much, and she loved her mom more for having to do things a less strong woman wouldn’t have been able to accomplish. She’d had to support herself, and she’d found a way to do it. Alexis glanced at her father and smiled. Well, her mom had been a stripper until her dad had come into the picture. Then Brick had set things straight. Alexis smiled again at that thought, because when her mom had finally sat down and told her how she and her father had met, Alexis hadn’t been surprised at the alpha-ness that was her dad. A shifter male was territorial and possessive to the nth degree.
Her dad pulled the vehicle beside Odin’s, and they climbed out. Before she could grab her bag Brick grabbed her suitcase and then wrapped his arm around her shoulder. “I’m glad you’re home, baby girl.”
She leaned her head against his shoulder and smiled. “Me, too, Dad.”
The front door was already opened when they walked up the porch steps, and her mother stood there with a huge smile on her face. Even in her forties her mom was beautiful, with a killer body, curves that Alexis was proud to say she’d inherited, and long blonde hair that Brick refused to let her cut.
