He chuckled. Maura could feel the vibration of it against her back. “And we’ve just started.”
She shivered then turned around to face him. His eyes were barely open, but his mouth was curved. She had wanted to be back in his bed for months, but knew that it wouldn’t have worked—not forever. Everything in her soul wanted to be near him, but their issues in bed would have overwhelmed the relationship. Before she had worked through whether it had been the best decision or not, Rory had arrived to work at the company. She had known then she could never compete with the love of Zeke’s life.
Mentally, she shoved that thought away. Regret was something she was trying to avoid. During this week, she was going to live in the moment. Still she had to be sure.
“You sure you want this? I mean, you and Rory have a pretty great relationship. I don’t want to cause any problems.”
He brushed the hair back away from her face then slid his fingers down her cheek and along her jawline. The endearing touch had her heart turning over.
“You aren’t causing any problems. And while you might think this was amazing…I promise you, you haven’t seen anything yet. Your submission will be…” he closed his eyes and drew in a deep breath, “sweet. I can’t wait.”
He opened his eyes and looked at her. There was an emotion in his gaze that she couldn’t figure out. The man had always been open with her, but she knew there were parts of his life he hid, even from her. She understood that. Very few people knew about her bouts with insomnia. So she understood that Zeke might keep certain things to himself. This, though, might have solved their problems in the bedroom.
“Why didn’t you tell me before that you had this…kink?”
He took a second or two to answer her. As always, Zeke chose his words carefully. “I don’t do this with any other man.”
She thought about that. She knew that Zeke was bisexual when they went to bed, before actually. And, she knew about Rory. He had always been very open about his love for his fellow Irishman. It had been intriguing, not just because of his open sexuality. There was an element of acceptance and love in that. Zeke was a man who loved to the most extreme.
“So, you never share a woman with anyone else?”
He shook his head. “Truly, other than the women we’ve slept with, Rory is the only other person who knows about this.”
She sighed. “There’s already rumors at work.”
He frowned. “How did they find out?”
Rolling her eyes, she snorted. “Oh, good Lord, there are a bunch of former government workers there. They gossip better than the little old ladies at church.”
He chuckled. “You’re right there. What I meant is that…well, people don’t realize that this is something that Rory and I share together and with no one else.”
“Oh.”
“And now we’re sharing it with you. No one else knows but the three of us that it’s something just for us.”
She nodded.
“If you are still in the mood to move forward.”
She was surprised by the uncertainty in his voice and her heart melted just a little bit more. She loved this man. From the moment he had touched her in Hawaii she knew that he was the one for her. Or she had thought he was. The crush she’d had on him had exploded into all encompassing love. The one thing she never did was hide that. He had known from the beginning and she knew he understood how she felt about him. The fact that he needed reassurances was a glimpse into the soul of the man.
“I would have to be crazy not to want to at least try more. I love you.”
His gaze softened. Her throat closed up at the look on his face. She wasn’t accustomed to sharing so many of her private thoughts. Zeke had told her once he would read her like an open book, but still, she was uncomfortable telling a man she loved him.
She swallowed. “I mean…Rory is an amazing Dom, I can tell already.”
“Is that so, love?” Rory asked.
She looked past Zeke and found Rory watching them. She wondered how long he had been standing there, but in the next instant her brain went blank. All he had on was the towel he held anchored at his waist. A small bead of water slipped down his chest. Lord, the man was a god.
Rory was a man who had lived a hard life, just like Zeke. But for some reason, it seemed more pronounced on Rory. Zeke was lean lines, like a swimmer. Sculpted, yes, but not so damn big. There were a few scars here and there but the one that held her attention was a long thin line from his chest to abs. She had also seen a little pock mark on his ass earlier that she knew was from a bullet but she had been disappointed to find out that the rumors of tattoos on his naughty bits had been exaggerated.
