My Most Precious One(96)

By:Evangelene

“I lived my life coasting around, my goal was to make money and find a girl I could share it with. I thought I found her, she was kind and generous and she gave me a sense of love I never experienced growing up. When I lost her, I realized what I mourned the most was the loss of warmth and love that I would never have again. Until you. You came into my life and turned it upside down. You questioned my world and my motives. You pushed me to work to be with you, to have you. You showed me what real love is. I was blind until I saw you and now the world seems so different. When you weren’t with me, darkness came and encased me, bringing me back to the depths of loneliness I once had growing up. You are my light, my love, my heart, my most precious one.” He took off his jacket and rolled up his sleeve, he coaxed me to come closer but I stood frozen, afraid of what he was about to do, what my heart knew he was trying to do.

“Come” he said a little more forceful, my body obeyed. He showed me his wrist, my name was tattooed in bold Greek letters.

“I love you so damn much. I want to give you the world. This might be only a small piece but I can do more when it comes to you.” He reached into his pocket and took out a small ring box, and opened it. There inside the box was an art deco ring with a large diamond that was surrounded by pave diamonds in a platinum setting. It was one I had looked at before at Tiffany’s. He had pointed at it and I laughed at how much it cost.

“Lukas…” I stood speechless. I didn’t notice till I felt them come down my cheek but I had started to cry.

“Don’t leave a man hanging here baby.”

“Lukas…” I swallowed hard. “I don’t want all this. You don’t need to spend all this on me, a mere thought and look is all I need from you.” He wiped my tears away,

“I know but I want to do this. Alexia?” He said a little more urgently. I smiled. “What was the question again?” I tried to laugh at the moment and at how wonderful he was. How utterly perfect he was for me.

“Will you marry me, you little minx?” He asked again. “Yes” I whispered looking into his eyes.

“Yes, I’ll marry you.” He took the ring out of the box and reached for my hand. He’s hands were shaking as he tried to glide the ring on my finger.

“Fuck I love you baby.” He picked me up and swung me around, “I love you too.”

Six Months Later

It took a while for Lukas to win over my mother but she ended up liking him especially when she found out he had hired a private Greek tutor. My mother saw it fit to raise him right, her words not mine, she wanted him to have a loving home, not like the one he grew up in.

“You never told me you were taking Greek classes.” I said stupefied.

“It never came up.” He said pleased with himself.

“I can’t believe you actually spoke to her in Greek, I think she almost fell in love with you.” He laughed

“It’s too bad but I’m already taken.”

I had finished school and the decision to move even though the decision was truly hard for me. I loved my city and my life but Lukas was my home. I’d miss my friends but they promised they’d visit especially knowing the shopping that was in store for them. Roxi and Kaci would never abandon me no matter what. He made sure I knew that he would never sell the penthouse in Montreal and that I could go there as much as I liked. Since I graduated with honors, Lukas worked his magic and got me an interview at the Metropolitan museum, he said he’d get me in but he rest was up to me. I never thought I was going to do anything I liked, that my life was planned out for me and that I had to accept it, but Lukas changed all that.

As I was planning the wedding, Lukas gave me free reign, smart man. The only thing he wanted was that we would marry in Greece. He would pay for everyone to fly over, but everything else was up to me. I made sure it was a simple wedding near our family’s church that over looked the ocean. My family was excited to meet him and I was just happy that he was part of my life.

My phone rang as I was going over details with my wedding planner. “Excuse me for a second.” I took my phone and walked over to the kitchen

“Hello?” I answered.

“Yes, is this Alexia?” The man over the phone spoke.

“Yes.” I hesitate.

“Well I have to say that the interviewer was quite taken in by you Ms. Alexia, I’m calling to inform you that you have the job.”

Oh my god! “Oh my god! Are you serious?”I screamed. He laughed on the phone.

“Yes I am.”

“Thank you so so much.” I said excitedly.

“I’ll send you the information via email. I’ll see you soon Alexia.”
