My Most Precious One(45)

By:Evangelene

“I called you sister and she didn’t know where you were.” She continued her fifty question assault. I only needed to dodge another forty seven questions.

The main reason I rarely said anything to my poor sister is that she would constantly gets caught in the middle of our fights.

“Greek girls don’t do the things you do. They live at home until they are married to good Greek boys.” She lectured me constantly till it drove me out of the house.

“Yes but the Greek boys I brought home weren’t good enough.” I replied trying to derail the inevitable confidence detonation I was about to receive.

She sucked in air. “You never brought home one, and if you did I would be so angry at you.”

I laughed “So how was I going to meet one?” I knew the answer but I love goading her.

“We would have chosen one for you! You could have had two babies right now!” She exclaimed. “At you age I was married for ten years and had two beautiful children, a house and a business. You? What do you have? Nothing!”

That there ladies and gents was called the Greek mom special, rapid fire comments that should render you useless. I thankfully have had training and could now laugh it off with my comment proof humor. “I have my Mini!” I smiled

“You’re crazy!” She shook her head. I was assuming I’d be ordering out tonight if she didn’t leave early.

I opened the door to the condo. “It’s dirty!” She commented. It wasn’t but it’s a subconscious thing Greek moms do so that you develop an innate need to clean. The guilt seeped in. I felt that my place was out of sorts, even though it wasn’t. I needed to clean now. I headed to the patio door and opened it to let in some fresh air and began to tidy up.

“Your father will pick me up later after he comes back from the Greek club house. Unless you want to be a good girl and drive me home and spend some time with us. We are your parents and you don’t even love us.” Right for the kisser.

“Ma I love you, I just can’t be with you all the time. I was there last week and called you too. You have to say it’s better than before.” Before I wouldn’t even bother, it got so bad between us that I had a hard time dealing with her demands.

“Better but not enough.” She wagged her finger at me. I loved the lady, I got my sense of humor from her but I got my father’s love of being alone too, which drove her crazy. She thought at one point I had developed xenophobia, I laughed for a good week at her expense. I turned to make her a Greek coffee after I put on the music she liked.

“Shit.” I murmured under my breath.

“What?” she called out. My kitchen, it was different. The cabinets were upgraded and the stove was the one I dreamed of. Words failed me, I dug into my tote bag and took out my Iphone; I had two texts. One was from Lukas, the other was Roxi.

i owed u one babe, hope u like it

Don’t be mad the man called me desperate to make u happy, i gave him my key. Kaci gave him ur sizes. Luv u ;-)

“What is wrong with you?” My mom came over to where I stood, there was no way I was going to say anything about Lukas to her. I’m going to kiss both girls the next time I saw them, that’s for sure.

“Kala, are you going to make me the coffee or stand here looking at your kitchen!” Thank god she hadn’t noticed and if she had she would only glaze over it, if it wasn’t about a Greek boy and Greek babies I was pretty much safe. I started her coffee and fired a text to Roxi,

i cant believe u let him do this?

Two minutes later.

Didnt have a choice bella, he insisted and i wasnt going to say no, the guy busted up ur kitchen. Does it look nice @ least?

I took a pic and sent it to her.

That right there is blow job material. u better fuck his brains out

Kaci was next

r u crazy giving him my sizes?

Shut up like u didn’t like what he got u. Gave Roxi and me card blanche with his personal assistant and bought u the clothes u’ve been bitching about getting. Now shut up and get me some clothes too!!!!

I laughed as I poured my mom’s coffee into the cup she bought herself for me to keep. “Are you finished with the phone or are you friends more important than me?” She hissed. I had to weigh my options when she said that.

I tore myself away from the beautiful kitchen and had to sit with my mom, trying to act causal when right now I was up the wall excited about this gorgeous gift Lukas had given me. How was I going to ever repay him for this? The man spent more on me the last few days than I make in a year.

“Are you listening?” My mom’s question knocked me out of my thoughts. “I said I invited someone over for dinner tomorrow. He’s a good man from a good family, he just came from Greece. They have money and properties. He’s from the same island as your father.” She smiled as though she was somehow picturing her grandkids already. “He wants to move back to Greece soon, but wanted to come and see his family here.”
